Design Trip: Pulse London 2013

The highlight of Pulse this year had to be the Launchpad area showcasing new design talent.

Here are some of my picks...

Caslon & Co - as passionate about traditional printing techniques as they are for creating beautiful patterns

Joanna Corney - hitting the sweet spot between intricate illustration & simple execution

Butterscoth & Beesting - creating fantastically imaginative circus stories through bright, bold & unique illustrations

Watch this space for great things from these three...

Art Collection: Blackpool Rock by Joël Penkman

I've had Joël's work bookmarked for a while now and often found myself clicking through her portfolio for a little visual TLC. I love the delicate yet amazingly realistic replications of much loved food & packaging. Luckily for me she was showing at the recent Pick Me Up event at Somerset House so I couldn't resist picking up a piece for my ever growing collection of prints.

Test Shoot #4 - Transparency (MOOD BOARD)

So my concept for my next shoot with Issy was based around the idea of transparency. In a nutshell, food that you could see through in some way.

I thought it would be good to post my pre-shoot preparation so you could see how we got to the final shots. As with any test we used shots that we love to give us a starting point and then I created an overall style that would create a thread running through each shot.

So here it is...

Check out my next post for the final results!

Assisting work: Talking Tables (Weddings 2013)

This was actually my first ever shoot, although I've only just seen the finished results. A slight baptism of fire - 4 locations, 4 days, a van load of props and a lot of shots! Luckily for me I was assisting the ever calm and talented Emma Morton-Turner. This was also my first foray into modelling! There's more to come unfortunatly!
